My second music video, this time for the Irish band The Sei and their stunning single ‘Sentient’.
Once again I wanted to channel the strange sci-fi animations of the 70s/80s, this time in a portrayal of the song’s story (written by the singer Stace Gill). The story centres on a house in the wilds of Newfoundland, some time in the future. In the house live two leaders - one, a robotic AI and the other a human woman. In this imagined future, AI and humanity need each other - people are protected by AI because we can dream, the one thing they lack. Until the robot hears a song, and is transformed forever…
Like the first video (I Can Never by Ships), it was made using a combination of still images made in Procreate on iPad Pro & Photoshop and made to move in After Effects with grading effects by Red Giant. This time I was also able to bring in 3D elements from Sculptris & Blender.
